The Knights Templar

Eternal Keepers of Secrets.

The origins of the Knights Templar can be traced back to the aftermath of the First Crusade in 1099. After capturing Jerusalem, Christian pilgrims began to flock to the Holy Land to visit the sacred sites. However, with the rise of Islamic forces, the journey to Jerusalem became perilous. To safeguard the pilgrims and ensure the safety of the Christian territories in the region, a group of knights, led by Hugues de Payens, formed a military order known as the Knights Templar in 1119.

The primary purpose of the order was to protect Christian pilgrims and ensure safe passage for them, as well as to defend the newly established Crusader states in the Levant. Initially, the order consisted of a small group of knights who took vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, living according to the rules of monastic life while maintaining a strong military presence.
